This provides accessibility coverage as a “free” byproduct of tests you are already writing and maintaining. Tip: Implement a “ratchet” for accessibility violations: record the current violation count, and fail the CI build only if the count increases. This prevents new violations from being introduced while giving the team time to fix existing ones gradually. Each sprint, fix the top 5 violations, lowering the ratchet threshold. This approach is more practical than demanding zero violations from day one on a large existing application.

Mistake 1 — Treating accessibility testing as a one-time audit
